Our organization's primary activities consist of mentoring research, advocacy, resource development and training. We are developing and sharing practical tools and inspirations for parents, teachers, professionals, mentors and communities in mentoring youth into discovering and manifesting their inherent gifts, enriching their life long learning journey, fostering their creative essence, condolling grief, embracing a kinesthetic understanding of peace and the linking of their life’s journey to service of self, others, community and the environment.

We live in a unique time in history where a single generation is inheriting the power to decide the fate of humanity. The concentric rings of our personal ethics move out into the world today with much more influence and power than they did 100 years ago. In the early 1900's and before, if someone expressed their grief in rage they may have injured a few people or lost themselves in the woods. In today's world, a person, even a youth, expressing their grief could detonate a bomb and injure many or walk into a schoolroom with a semi-automatic weapon and kill other children. It is widely believed that how the children of today decide to interface with one another and with the environment will largely determine if our species will have the capacity to survive. This is the first time in the history of humanity that a generation will wield such power. It has become remarkably apparent that our solutions for peace in today's world, both within each person and in the common heartbeat of each nation, must come from how we feed the fires of our sprouting generations of youth. It is vital that these decision makers are mentored into an awareness of their power and understand that their personal ethics must be steeped in knowing that they are intricately connected to one another and to the environment in which sustains them. Peacemaking has never before been as imperative as it is today.

Mentoring for Peace directly addresses the needs of individuals to recognizes mentoring as as a key process in healthy human development and interaction. We offer various resources to enhance understanding of the mentoring journey and its power to foster positive productive transformation in the life of another person. Our work focuses on the learning modality of mentoring which is and has been the foremost method in which cultural and world "viewsheds" move from one generation to the next. This is extremely important in today's increasingly violent and fearful climate that most youth are consistently exposed to on both small and global levels. This project addresses and contributes to solving fundamental cultural and human crisis through the most basic human learning phenomena…the mentoring relationship.

Mentoring for Peace is a grass roots effort that has sprouted out of our ten years of work with thousands of youth in mentoring them into the discovery and nurture of their intricate connections in the web of life. We have learned many tools and understandings that foster the discovery and expression of people's inborn gifts. Our strategies and teachings tap deep into the root of inherent learning that has been vital to the human journey since our dawn on the earth. Mentoring has contributed more toward the transformation of daily routines that bring us to the edge of our perception and understanding which feeds essential growth. Our work is intended to inspire and guide people young and old into the emergence of empathy from within each of them giving fertile ground to the roots of being a peacemaker.
